Honestly, I found the most interesting things that everyone else wrote in that third paragraph where we were each supposed to write any extra thoughts we had. Every student put something completely unrelated to technology, or even the class. I loved reading students' writings about football and greys anatomy and found it easiest to comment on that because everyone wrote the same things for the first two paragraphs.
Like I said in the last blog, since the class is over I have learned all of the skills I need for education, but if I had done this sooner, I would have said Excel.
I seriously feel like I just wrote this paragraph too, well actually I know I just did, so instead of repeating myself please just go back to my ninth blog and it will tell you all you need to know! =)

When I become a teacher I plan to use the internet a lot. Honestly, I think that http://www.google.com will be the most useful internet source for me. Basically this site does it all. I could even look for a dog sitter through google if I wanted to.
I would mainly use this site to look up useful educational sites that I can use. Since I plan to teach elementary school, I need to be able to look up sources for every subject and since google is one of the most used search engines I figure it will help me look up everything from quizzes in math to short stories for English.
Well, since the class is basically over, I have learned everything that I have wanted to. If I had done this one time, which I am always late though, I would have said I would want to learn Excel because it was the one program I didn't know much about.
I can't wait to be a teacher because I already have an entire plan on how to make my classroom fun and educational like Erin Gruwell (from Freedom Writers). I can't wait to use Powerpoint to make am awesome game like what we learned to do and I plan to take the students I have to anywhere and everywhere and teach them through educational computerized field trips.

Before I start, I want to say that I will probably go back to Posts 6 and 7, but since I am always such a last minute person, if I don't have time I obviously won't!
Anyway, this post is about chapter 8, which discusses computer security. Basically this chapter was about viruses and how they can be detected on the computer using Antivirus programs and the programs also help protect the computer and remove the virus without your computer completely shutting down. Software license helps protect theft and piracy on the computers. Acceptable Use Policy helps the schools protect the students from unwanted sites and viruses and keep them focusing on their work.
I learned from this chapter about how important it is to block students from unwanted sites. I have a lot of antivirus software but this chapter helped me understand it better and see how useful it really is.
I have fallen in love with commercials! I used to change the channel because I hated commercials but now I wait anxiously for them because I find them so funny, like that $2 sandwich from Arbys or where ever...

Chapter 6 was about curriculums. Basically, that is what the learner experiences in the classroom. Technology integration helps one meet the curriculum standards. This chapter discussed the differences between each learner and how important different learning styles are as well. Technology integration is very important for the classroom to help the students learn as much as they can.
I learned a lot from this chapter. I learned about the curriculum and different learning styles, as well as how important it is to put technology in with the curriculum.
Does anyone like country? Because I have recently become obsessed with it and now I can't stop watching GAC and CMT! You should listen to Sugarland they are my favorite!

Chapter 5 was basically about the world wide web. The internet has made a huge impact on everyone recently, even my grandma who knows nothing about technology, and this chapter explained about how it worked more. Hyperlinks help us to easily navigate from one site to another. The internet is now being used for more than just information, it is being used as a classroom as well, which is called the web-based course. Electronic books are also available online and the internet is used for entertainment, education, and communication.
I learned a lot from this chapter about computers. I have figured out my way to navigate through blackboard, but I learned a lot about online classes, which I have always been scared to take. Also, I learned a lot about the internet that I use everyday.
I don't really have a thought to say here... is that acceptable? I mean I don't really know what is even wanted here and I could say some random thing about anything but I don't have anything exciting to say! Sorry to disappoint =(

Chapter 4 basically talked about the System Unit and how it protects your computer and its components such as the motherboard and memory. Since most computers are digital it has to change the form of data to understand it. The chapter talked about storing data using the memory as well as devices such as ROMs. The data is the input and the output devices include speakers and headsets. Chapter 4 talked about how our keyboard is our typewriter and the mouse is used as a pointing device as well, and still mostly discussed basics of computers and its media.
Most of the information in the chapters continues to be information I already knew. The chapters are still discussing the basics, just in specific areas which I am finding a little frustrating because compared to all of the my friends I am not very computer literate yet all of the information isn't helping me gain much. At work I used flash memory and know very well how the memory of it, as well as similar devices work. I did learn the more techinical terms for these items though.
I honestly don't really have anything to share related to this or at all. I guess I am not a very loud person when it comes to class posts... sorry =/

Chapter 3 basically discussed different softwares. It talked about an application software and software packages including Microsoft Word. Productivity software was also mentioned in this chapter. It's basically designed to help people work more easily on daily tasks. It includes datasheets and spreads. Graphics and Media software helps you create presentations that can later be used to show students in a classroom or at a meeting in an office etc. The chapter basically explained all of the different softwares that help make our computer so useful as well as so easy to use.
Honestly, to say that I learned nothing would be a lie, but I had a general knowledge of all of this information and this chapter basically just put it into more detail for me. I knew a lot about softwares and how they helped out but I didn't know the details of the different kinds of software that exist and how each one differs to retain different information.
I don't really have anything to share, I am kind of doing this fast because I know it is late but I spent the past week trying to figure out why I can't log onto my blog from my computer in my apartment and its because of some retarded thing with my account! I also got into a huge fight with my best friend/room mate so I am not in the greatest mood and Im sorry for being so vague and all!

This chapter pretty much discussed the basics of computers. I knew most of the terms in the chapter, although I have to admit that I know them mostly due to the fact that my step dad is a computer networker. This chapter discusses different types of computer, such as PC and laptops. I also learned a lot about the software and how it works with the hard drive to complete the tasks that I am trying to do. The chapter also discusses the many uses of the internet for teaching and just for the use of any user to find out basically any information. Everything is now on the internet, even newspapers and catalogs, and I think that it has become a wonderful way for students to receive information and learn. I was glad to learn about E-rate which helps schools purchase computers for their students to access because the internet and computers are taking over our way of learning, which is definately a positive. The reasoning behind using computers and technology for students is obvious and with the way our environment in school is constantly changing it is important for students to be educated with the latest technology.
(Sorry I kind of mixed the paragraphs into one and went back and forth between subjects)

Most of my experience with technology comes from high school. In high school I took the required computer class which taught me the basics of the different Word products such as Word Perfect and Excel. I also took a Graphic Arts class which taught me the technology of printing on clothing, developing film and using different cameras and making notepads, cards etc. I also learned a lot of technology at my job at a theme park in South Florida called Wannado City. I am a supervisor for the photography section (seasonal) at this theme park and I learned how to use the Express Photo program as well as some of the most advanced digital cameras. And I am still learning more about Technology each day as I use my lap top continuously and my cell phone etc.
Although I know a lot about technology, especially with computers and cameras, I hope to learn a lot more in this class. I know the basics very well but I am not too familiar with all of the less known aspects of the different programs on my computer and I hope to learn everything that is needed to help me be a successful teacher of this techonolgical era.
I honestly don't really know what to write for this last paragraph... there isn't really much to me... I went to Western High School in Fort Lauderdale and I am technically still an Elementary Education major but I am switching to English Education in hopes to teach high school. Also, as strange as it seems to some, I go by my middle name Beth, which takes a while for everyone to get used to in my classes. I love John Mayer and I collect skirts and I am usually extremely random! (but in a good and fun way!) =D
