Chapter 4 basically talked about the System Unit and how it protects your computer and its components such as the motherboard and memory. Since most computers are digital it has to change the form of data to understand it. The chapter talked about storing data using the memory as well as devices such as ROMs. The data is the input and the output devices include speakers and headsets. Chapter 4 talked about how our keyboard is our typewriter and the mouse is used as a pointing device as well, and still mostly discussed basics of computers and its media.
Most of the information in the chapters continues to be information I already knew. The chapters are still discussing the basics, just in specific areas which I am finding a little frustrating because compared to all of the my friends I am not very computer literate yet all of the information isn't helping me gain much. At work I used flash memory and know very well how the memory of it, as well as similar devices work. I did learn the more techinical terms for these items though.
I honestly don't really have anything to share related to this or at all. I guess I am not a very loud person when it comes to class posts... sorry =/

Chapter 3 basically discussed different softwares. It talked about an application software and software packages including Microsoft Word. Productivity software was also mentioned in this chapter. It's basically designed to help people work more easily on daily tasks. It includes datasheets and spreads. Graphics and Media software helps you create presentations that can later be used to show students in a classroom or at a meeting in an office etc. The chapter basically explained all of the different softwares that help make our computer so useful as well as so easy to use.
Honestly, to say that I learned nothing would be a lie, but I had a general knowledge of all of this information and this chapter basically just put it into more detail for me. I knew a lot about softwares and how they helped out but I didn't know the details of the different kinds of software that exist and how each one differs to retain different information.
I don't really have anything to share, I am kind of doing this fast because I know it is late but I spent the past week trying to figure out why I can't log onto my blog from my computer in my apartment and its because of some retarded thing with my account! I also got into a huge fight with my best friend/room mate so I am not in the greatest mood and Im sorry for being so vague and all!

This chapter pretty much discussed the basics of computers. I knew most of the terms in the chapter, although I have to admit that I know them mostly due to the fact that my step dad is a computer networker. This chapter discusses different types of computer, such as PC and laptops. I also learned a lot about the software and how it works with the hard drive to complete the tasks that I am trying to do. The chapter also discusses the many uses of the internet for teaching and just for the use of any user to find out basically any information. Everything is now on the internet, even newspapers and catalogs, and I think that it has become a wonderful way for students to receive information and learn. I was glad to learn about E-rate which helps schools purchase computers for their students to access because the internet and computers are taking over our way of learning, which is definately a positive. The reasoning behind using computers and technology for students is obvious and with the way our environment in school is constantly changing it is important for students to be educated with the latest technology.
(Sorry I kind of mixed the paragraphs into one and went back and forth between subjects)
